And Isn't It Ironic?

Before leaving the house this morning, I noted that my morning could be featured in Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" song. Not because my day was starting so ironically, but because it was just a terrible inconvenient morning (as we all know that the song is not Ironic is any way shape or form.) The inconvenience of my morning consisted of waking up still sick, a lurking bladder infection, all of my jeans still in the washer (switching laundry to dryer...necessary? apparently so...), oh and coffee (first cup of the day, mind you) left on the counter in travel mug.

School was actually okay. Didn't get through much material today but I still have this crazy excitement to get back in the game, if you will. The study seminar I went to last week provided me with some great new skills that I think are going to enhance my education and bring me to a new level as a student. I know this sounds cheesy...but I mean it. I feel more confident than ever. I think this year, and this semester in particular are going to be very insightful for me as both a person and a future nurse, or at least that is the plan.

Yet, as Robert Burns said, “The best laid schemes o' mice an' menGang aft a-gley.” Meaning, crap just does not go as you thought it would. A productive night of studying at home, alone, was my only real to-do tonight. A few minor chores, taking out the trash, dishes, and laundry, but mainly...studying. Eh, other plans. Animals are rambunctious. Cat escapes out the front door. Landlord locks keys in the car. Landlord's wife is angry with him, doesn't answer phone. Bookstore is out of syllabi (that was earlier but frustration still remains). Can't log into online classes. Phone charger mysteriously no longer works with phone. Top it off, sick, again. And saw a commercial for some other cold medicine that claims that Dayquiil does NOT in fact take care of a stuffy nose...which is my main issue and also the cold medicine I am taking. Ahhh, venting feels good.

Needless to say, plan A did not go as planned. So Plan B, do as much as I can. Check. Snuggle with the puppies on the couch well finishing reading so they are calm and so am I. Check. Start shower and use one of those shower soothers that is like a nose-full of Vicks for your shower. Check. Venting time with your roommate and best friend. Check (well when she finally gets home.)

Valuable lesson of the day:
Though things don't always go as planned, we have to remember that one day is not the only day. Though I may have had a crappy day, it is only one day of my semester. I just happened to have this bad day on the first day. But it is one less that I will have later on.

Quote of the day:
